Reindeer
Rangifer tarandus
Range: Arctic regions of the world
Habitat: Open country
Diet: Grasses, lichens, sedges, mosses, leaves of willow branches
Fun Facts:
  • Both the male and female grow antlers
  • Herd of hundreds or thousands assemble for fall migration, traveling perhaps 200 miles. 
  • When the snow is deep, they use their hooves as snow shovels and scrape through the snow to feed.
