Banded Gila Monster 
Range: Southwestern United States
Habitat: Desert, prefers brushy areas such as river beds or canyon bottoms
Diet: Rodents, rabbits, birds and eggs. 
Fun Facts:
  • Spends most of its life below ground in burrows. 
  • Have a powerful bite; venom is deposited though their teeth in the lower jaw.
  • The Gila Monster is the United States largest native lizard.  It is one of the two known venomous lizards in the world.  It is protected by federal and state laws in the U.S.
