Fall in love again with the Lake Superior Zoo

Nearly 200 people celebrated Valentine's Day by combining romance with generosity at Paw de Deux a black tie fundraising event at Northland Country Club. The dinner, silent and live auctions raised $51,500, which will be used for projects to regain accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The Lake Superior Zoological Society gratefully acknowledges the many contributions of time, talent and treasure to benefit the revitalization of our beloved zoo.

The second annual event attracted more guests and raised more money than the inaugural event, and everyone had a fabulous evening! We had special guests attend, Andrea and Walter Breitkopf, and Lynn Perry from Bert Onsgard's family (Bert founded the zoo in 1923), who traveled from Scottsdale, AZ to attend. Andrea, Bert's daughter, and Lynn, Bert's granddaughter, shared memories of the early days at our zoo.
