     EARTH DAY

Earth Day 2008

Friday, April 18th
10 am – 2 pm

The zoo’s Earth Day event will be held on Friday April 18th and will offer two educational opportunities for young people and organized groups to creatively share their ideas, make a statement and offer solutions:

  • An Earth Day Environmental & Zoological Science Fair (open to individuals and small groups of  up to 3 people grades K – 12 or equivalent)
  • An Earth Day Garbage Sculpture Contest (open to classrooms, scout troops, etc. grades K – 12 or equivalent)

Everyone (including groups that do not enter a project) should plan to attend and experience students’ creative Earth Day projects!

All Earth Day entries will be on display at the zoo from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on April 18th, with judging and awards happening between 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.   Other Earth Day activities include: crafts (build a worm tower or grass caterpillar), games (Web of Life or Species Charades), and special programs on hawk migration, recycling and planning trees.

All entries for either the science fair and/or the sculpture contest must be received by March 28, 2008.   Fax entries to the Lake Superior Zoo at 218-723-3750 or mail it to 7210 Fremont Street, Duluth, MN 55807.
