The
Lake Superior Zoo Junior Docent Program is an educational
program for middle and upper school students intended to promote
interest in animal care, careers in biological sciences,
participation in volunteer community services, and a working
knowledge of zoos and their place in conservation, education,
recreation, and research with animals. It is designed for youth
ages 13-17 years old (no exceptions due to space limitations).
Choose from one of two six-week sessions. Session fee is $50.00
(a junior docent t-shirt and nametag will be provided and must
be worn when working at the zoo). Accepted participants must
attend an orientation day during the first week of the session
and should be committed to participating at least one time per
week for the remainder of the session.
Session one: June 9-July 18
Session two: July 21-August 29
Young adults are selected for the program based on this
application, an interview, and availability of space. Return
