 Docent (doh-suhnt) is derived from the word "docere"
meaning "to teach." Lake Superior Zoo docents are trained volunteers who dedicate 72 hours per year or approximately 6 hours per month to share their passion for the zoo with the community. With training and experience, a docent becomes qualified to provide an educational and tactile experience for zoo visitors and community events. Docents also assist with special projects and events.

Docent?
 Contact the Education Department to request an application. Successful completion of the application and interview process will lead to a month long training session and continuing training for active docents.
