Zoo Classes

Treat your kids to a wild learning experience! During zoo classes, youth explore wildlife as they participate in hands-on activities, crafts and animal encounters. We often go outside during classes so please dress for the weather. Pre-registration is required (except for Zoo Tots).  Please contact the Education Office if you have any questions:  218-730-4500 ext. 205 or jschwartz@lszoo.org.

NEW! Zookeeper Job Shadowing: ages 13-17 Date/Time Rates
Wonder what it's like to work with animals?! Spend a morning not just job "shadowing" but actually helping behind-the-scenes at the Lake Superior Zoo! You will get to prepare animal diets, make animal enrichments, tour the veterinary clinic, watch animal training, and more! Wear comfortable, close-toed shoes and clothes that can get a little dirty, and be prepared to be outside. Participants are welcome to bring a lunch and walk around the zoo on their own after the program.

Breakfast with the Animals: ages 3-7 with a caregiver Date/Time Rates
Zoo animals eat breakfast in the morning too! We'll join them, before the zoo opens, for a light continental breakfast and a behind-the-scenes peak at animal enrichment. Child-focused and caregiver-directed free play activities and crafts will stir your child's imagination and inspire learning. Explore the zoo on your own after the program.

Breakfast on the Farm! Rise and shine, it's time for breakfast at the zoo! We'll eat our morning meal before heading down to the barn to help the zookeeper feed the sheep, goats, llama and horse. Sat. March 16, 2013

Zoo Tots: ages 2-3 with a caregiver (no older siblings please) Date/Time Rates
Through story time, activities, and animal encounters, toddlers will enjoy learning about a different animal each visit. Zoo Tots is a great way for children to interact with each other as they learn about animals. Explore the zoo on your own after the program. No pre-registration necessary. 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month from 10:00 - 10:30 am
No Zoo Tots programs in the month of May.

$2 plus admission for non-members
Cub Club: ages 4-6  Cub Club is also a summer camp program - click here for details!
Children will participate in games, interactive activities, role play and crafts. We will explore the zoo, read stories and meet many animal friends! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED. New this year: Purchase as a 4-program session and save!

Homeschool Classes: ages 7-12
