Treat your kids to a wild learning experience! During zoo classes, youth explore wildlife as they participate in hands-on activities, crafts and animal encounters. We often go outside during classes so please dress for the weather. Pre-registration is required (except for Zoo Tots).  Please contact the Education Office if you have any questions:  218-730-4500 ext. 205 or

Zoo Tots: ages 2-3 with a favorite adult (no older siblings please) Date/Time Rates
Through story time, activities, and animal encounters, toddlers will enjoy learning about a different animal each visit. Zoo Tots is a great way for children to interact with each other as they learn about animals. Explore the zoo on your own after the program. No pre-registration necessary. 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month from 10:00 - 10:30 am (Sept - April)
No Zoo Tots during the month of May. There will be a time/location change for Summer Zoo Tots - see Summer Camp web page for details.

$2 plus admission for non-members
Cub Club: ages 4-6
Cub Club is designed for preschool-age children who are able to be successful in group programs without parent involvement. Children will participate in games, interactive activities, role play and crafts. We will explore the zoo, read stories and meet many animal friends! PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.

Spend two days over winter break taking an active role in animal care at both Great Lakes Aquarium and Lake Superior Zoo! Learn what it takes to keep resident animals healthy, happy and active. Go behind the scenes to prepare meals, clean exhibits, test water quality, observe animal training and more!

Zookeeper Job Shadowing: ages 13-17 Date/Time Rates
Wonder what it's like to work with animals? Spend a morning not just job shadowing but actually helping behind the scenes at the zoo. You will get to prepare animal diets, make animal enrichments, tour our veterinary clinic, watch animal training, have lunch with a zookeeper and more! Lunch included - please let us know if you have any food allergies. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Homeschool Classes: ages 7-17
Explore science concepts using the outdoors as our classroom and live animals as our teachers! This year, dive deep into the animal kingdom to discover why and how scientists classify living things. Each class will focus on a different animal group and their unique characteristics. Although many of the activities will be done as a group, classes will sometimes be divided to accomodate different learning levels. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
