Explore
the land down under! Australia is home to some
of the most unique and interesting group of animals, the marsupials. These are mammals
that carry their babies in a pouch until the baby matures. The exhibit, finished in 1991,
consists of an outback trail that brings you nose to nose with kangaroo, emu, and more.
Visit the animals of the night in the nocturnal building and dive into the Great Barrier Reef with
colorful coral reef fish. Learn what size a baby kangaroo is at birth, watch the phalanger
use its prehensile tale, and read about the aboriginal people, a culture time has
forgotten.
